Late October
Duran finally invite Warren to New York for an audition,
then brings him in to fill in some gaps on the
'Notorious' album. Daniel Abraham: "Right at the very
end, the tail end in New York. At that point we were
already mixing, or just about to." [72]
Warren: "The video for 'Notorious' was already finished
(and broadcast). There wasn't that much to do, really. I
remember Nile was there, JT and Daniel. Nile and JT
knew exactly where the heavier, more distorted guitars
should be, what track, etc. (So) I just went in and
played. First thing I did was an e-bow solo on
'American Science'; that had to be the strangest chord
progression I've ever played over. But we all had a
good laugh. I think the most time I spent was on 'Hold
Me', screwing around with delays, harmonics and
stuff." For the record, Warren confirms he eventually
filled in on 5 tracks: "'Hold Me', 'Skin Trade', 'American
Science', 'Vertigo' and 'Proposition', those are the ones
I played on." [73]
