this strongly suggests that Andy thought that things
were good between them. [24]

When John arrived to the studio on June 19th, he
announced to fans: "The album is going well... and the
single is ready. It's called 'Don't Look Back' and it's a
tear-jerker
". [28]
Initially, the band already worked on this song in 1984
during 'The Wild Boys' sessions! They probably tried to
finish this '1984-track' in the summer of 1986, since
there are several articles where 'Don't Look Back' was
mentioned as a possible first single from the album
'Notorious'. But to this date, the song remains
unfinished. [29]
Gerry Laffy helps the band while they were at West
Side Studios: "I was in London, and they were out at
West Side Studios. And the material we were working
on was essentially working demos. The stuff I was
doing at the time was rock; that dirty Les Paul sound
through a Marshall amp. Andy and I, as guitarists, are
very much from the same school; similar style and attitude.
" [30]
This is also backing the answer to the frequently asked
question: "Who played on the early 'rock demo' of
'A Matter Of Feeling'?
" The demo was available on
Andy's 'Thunder' website [over a decade ago], which
claimed it was Andy singing and therefore, as it was his
voice, it was also his guitar. But we now know that the
demo was a copy with the incorrect speed - thus
making Simon's voice sound more like Andy's. When
slowed down, you can clearly hear Simon singing and
therefore the assumption that Andy plays guitar is

also invalid. It is Gerry Laffy playing guitar on this
particular demo.

July 5
Arcadia perform 'The Flame' on Eurotube. Rumours
that Andy performed here with Arcadia can't be
confirmed, he was definitively not there. [32] [33]
July 11 or 12
John went to see Queen again during the Magic Tour

Late July or early August
Warren Cuccurullo keeps calling the band - sending
tapes and videos, saying that he wants to help out,
while Duran Duran were still waiting for Andy to arrive.
The generally accepted tale is that things happened in
an order:
   1. Missing Persons break up whilst on tour prior to
the release of 'Color In Your Life' in July.
   2. Andy contacts Terry Bozzio and Patrick O'Hearn
from Missing Persons about joining his band.
   3. Warren starts contacting Duran. Missing Persons
were definitely still together on the 28th of June,
and on the 29th/30th, depending on when the
article was written, it was still expected that they
would be performing both that night and the 1st of
       July. [37]
